One of the core purposes of Make.Do.Camp. is to help build a better functioning, collaborative and empathetic local community. And while there are lots of ways that people connect within their own interest groups, our event is about meeting and getting to know folks who may not be a part of your current world.

Make.Do.Camp. will provide a lot of choice in workshops and activities and individual freedom to make your own schedule, but you’ll be doing that alongside a few dozen other folks who are carving their own path. In our experience, the lack of phones and hotel rooms to disappear into result in deep connections with new friends.

As a result, the event becomes not just about you and your goals, but the greater whole and how we’re moving forward together. It’s about us.

But don’t take our word for it…here are some comments from former campers:

“Strangers who will become friends & leaders who will impact your life.” ~ Quentrel Provo, Stop the Violence

“Between time in nature, embodiment practices, shared activities, and simple, honest conversations, everything slowed down and real connection had room to happen—it felt natural, co-created, and shaped by the time we spent together.” ~ Shawn Selfridge, Osteopath/Owner Watershed Wellness

“I met incredible people from all sectors, and many of those connections have lasted. It’s the kind of camp that stays with you long after it’s over.” ~ Elizabeth Kennedy, Executive Director Policy, Planning and Sector Relations, NS Municipal Affairs

“The setting — cabins in the woods, ocean breezes, and long talks around campfires — made the experience feel more like a genuine community gathering than a typical talk, and it left a lasting impression on me.” ~ Omar Gandhi, Omar Gandhi Architects
