Nova Scotia, Canada – On the tenth anniversary of the first iteration, Make.Do.Camp. returns to Big Cove YMCA camp in Pictou County to host an unplugged and substance-free retreat for adults seeking a place to disconnect.
The camp is open to anyone over 18 years old and people of all backgrounds and occupations. The camp philosophy is to take away distractions and live in a rustic camp environment in order to see what can emerge – deep rest, new ideas and new projects.
For 72 hours, campers will be surrounded by the ocean and woods, participating in engaging workshops and accessing camp facilities, including canoeing, high ropes course, archery and more.
This year, the camp will be running three curated, parallel workshop tracks focused on the mind, body and spirit, as well as mini-workshops throughout the experience. The schedule is deliberately kept spacious and flexible, providing room for campers to connect.
Confirmed workshop leaders include singer-songwriter Renée Coughlin of The Pairs; author and AfterWords Literary Festival co-founder Stephanie Domet; dancer and choreographer Meredith Kalaman; community organizer Jayme Melrose; and visual artist and Wonder’neath founder Heather Wilkinson. More workshops will be announced soon.
Those who register earlier will have a better chance at getting into the workshop track of their choice. Find more information about leaders and workshops here: https://makedocamp.com/workshop-leaders-and-tracks-for-2026/
Registration ends on August 31, 2026 or when it is sold out. The full registration rate of $1000 including tax, which includes return transportation from Halifax, shared cabin accommodations, all food and beverages and access to all speakers, facilities, workshops and social activities.
Make.Do.Camp. is excellent for professional development and various employers have reimbursed campers for the expense. The hosting team is founder Laura Simpson, program manager Miranda Cobb and operations manager Leigh Brown.
It is the camp’s mission to create an event that inspires, reinvigorates and educates its participants, while creating a bonded network of change-makers from diverse industries and communities.
